A useful first message can be simple
“We copy information between two systems every day. Is there a better way?” is a perfectly good starting point. So is “People visit our website but rarely enquire” or “This report takes most of Monday morning.”
If you can, include what happens now, who does the work and what you would like to be easier. A link to the relevant website can help. You do not need to include confidential records, passwords or customer details to explain the problem.
What happens next?
We can discuss the task, the systems involved and any constraints such as timing or budget. I may need to see how the process works or ask a few more questions before suggesting an approach. The next step could be a focused investigation, a small development change or a more clearly scoped piece of work.
I will not assume that a new application or AI is the answer. We should understand the opportunity before deciding what is worth building.
